You never really know what is going to happen when you leave for ministry every afternoon. It was a Monday, which meant I was going to visit friends in the townships with Amber. Our plan didn't end up working out for the day (what's new?), so Amber and I went to go see a young mom whose daughter goes to Ithemba, an after-school ministry I work at most afternoons. She lives behind her sister in-law's house in a tiny little one- room shack with her daughter and her boyfriend, who is a fisherman and is gone most of the time. I don't think she really wanted us to come and visit but she was friendly and invited us in. We began with small talk and then we asked them about church and other things. She doesn't have a job and was sick and got really bad nose bleeds every night. She also said she can't sleep at all so she mainly sleeps during the day. When I wasn't really sure what else I could possibly talk to her about I asked her if I could pray with her. She agreed and I prayed for her, her health and that her nose bleeds would go away so she would be able to get a good night's rest. We said goodbye and told her we would come back soon to visit again. I had a weird feeling that God placed this family in my life for a reason but I didn't have a clue what that reason was. Two days later I stopped by for a minute just to say hello, ask how she was and how her nose bleeds were. She told me that she hadn't had a nose bleed since we had prayed. God healed her! I wasn't really sure what to do next. I was super excited but truthfully in my head didn't really think God would ever work through me in that kind of a way. I am so excited to say that Cecilia hasn't had a nose bleed since that day. The Lord truly does heal people!
